Why Does It Even Matter

Eating the right portion is so important to becoming and staying healthier.  It allows you to eat all of the right things, and even the deserts.  When eating the right portion, we consume fewer calories compared to what is commonly given at many schools and restaurants.

Why eat the correct portion sizes?

  • It's healthier
  • You'll feel better
  • The amount of calories that you eat is more likely to be what your body needs
  • You'll spend less money on food
  • You'll have a more balanced diet

When you eat in moderation (correct portion sizes), you are able to eat a more healthy diet instead of going overboard and eating a ton of starches and not enough vegetables for example.

We teens need a healthy, balanced diet, which means a diet rich in fruits, vegetables and starchy foods.  Our diets should also contain moderate amounts of foods rich in protein, milk and dairy foods.  It keeps us energized enough to go to school, work, and still have energy for friends and going out.
